When Will the Migraine Solution Maria Shriver Be Televised Again?
Not too long ago, someone asked me why I hadn't published my book, "I've Been Thinking…," sooner. Afterward all, I've been writing these essays and sharing them in The Sunday Newspaper for years, so I could have easily published it a year or two ago.
But, as I told that person, and as I've told others on this journey, I honestly couldn't have put information technology out any sooner. This book came out when information technology was supposed to for me. It came at but the correct time.
I retrieve then many of u.s.a. are in a rush these days. Nosotros're in a rush to go on with things. A rush to get over things. A blitz to be where we recall nosotros are supposed to be.
But, if I've learned anything, it's that stuff happens when it's supposed to in our lives, not always when we think it should. At least that'southward been the example in my life.
When I started my partnership with Equinox Sports Clubs four years ago, I wanted Move for Minds to be a company-broad initiative for them right off the bat. But, they weren't there yet, and truth be told, neither was I. I was trying to blitz something that wasn't set all the same.
Now, we both are ready and this year, Equinox expanded Move for Minds – the initiative of my nonprofit The Women's Alzheimer's Move – from viii clubs concluding year to now, all 93 of their clubs across the globe. I'm securely grateful for their commitment in a way that I probably wouldn't take been had it come whatsoever sooner. We both worked difficult to get it to this place, and when we kicked Move for Minds off Sabbatum in New York Urban center, I knew information technology had happened at only the right fourth dimension.
I'thou as well grateful to NBC News for kick off Move for Minds this year on The Today Testify Plaza. That, too, happened not when I wanted it to, but when nosotros were both ready. (If you didn't catch my segment, I encourage yous to check it out here. Information technology'southward filled with valuable Alzheimer's information and preventative tips you lot can implement today.)
Timing is everything. In relationships. In politics (Ballot 24-hour interval is this Tuesday in many states, including my own, so go vote people!) In turning dreams into realities. It'due south also important for getting over former stuff and, as I said final calendar week, for getting ready for new beginnings.
How we spend our time – and how we view spending our time – can make the fourth dimension nosotros have either a lesson in the making, or a waste material of our most precious resource.
Time is something none of u.s. get back. Nosotros all have the aforementioned amount of hours in a solar day, merely we don't all get the aforementioned corporeality of time hither on globe.
Then this week, I am choosing to look at my relationship with time in a new way. I'thousand choosing to expect at it equally my friend, and equally something that is happening FOR me, no to me or against me.
I'thou blessed to be the age that I am, equally others I love weren't given the same gift. I'g likewise blessed to be working. I'm blessed to have a mission to move the needle on Alzheimer'southward, and I'm blessed that so many people, for whom I have the greatest respect and adoration, are giving their time to assist me move that needle. (Check out our powerful chat from Move for Minds NYC below in today's Lord's day Paper, and then tune into our conversation featuring other A-list Alzheimer's experts on my Facebook page today at 11am ET in Boston. We'll also be doing it again side by side weekend in LA and San Francisco — all in laurels of Alzheimer'south and Brain Awareness Calendar month.)
I'm grateful to friends who accept stood by me and allowed me the time to go to where I am today. Time has given me perspective over the years. Yes, it's given me wrinkles. Yes, it's hobbling my heart and grayed my hair. And, yeah, it'south even rattled my confidence in some areas that I'm not going to get into hither. But it's too given me wisdom, courage, a strong resolve, a new relationship with acceptance, and a conventionalities in myself that perhaps could have only come with fourth dimension.
And so, today's Sunday Newspaper is dedicated to the importance of time – yours, mine and ours. Beneath, we characteristic the voices of leading Alzheimer's and brain health researchers who say that now is the time to recollect about your cerebral health. We also feature Patti Davis, who looks back on time with her father Ronald Reagan and reflects on the anniversary of his passing from Alzheimer's. We also feature the voices of other Architects of Change who will remind you lot why time is and then valuable and then teach yous how to make the most of it.
So today, permit's embrace our precious moments of time — this resource that nosotros all share. Don't let a infinitesimal go past without cherishing the time that y'all have. Afterwards all, it'southward something you lot will never get back.
